P.B.I.S. at McKee

Welcome back to the 2023/2024 school year!

Jayhawk

We are looking forward to another great year! For those who are unfamiliar with P.B.I.S., it stands for Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports.

P.B.I.S. is a school wide process for creating a safer and more effective school environment. The system focuses on improving our school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students.

With that being said, we want to make you aware of some changes you will see this school year. Jeannette McKee Elementary School incorporated P.B.I.S. by teaching our students school-wide behavior expectations using the acronym of P.R.I.D.E. last school year. Moving into this school year, we still want our students to show their Jayhawk Pride, but we will be focusing on three behavioral values versus the five we focused on last school year. Our behavioral values for this school year are:

Be Responsible

Be Safe

Be Respectful

Students will continue to have the opportunity to earn points through our school wide recognition system PBIS Rewards. As teachers observe students being responsible, safe, and respectful throughout the campus, they will add points into the system accordingly. Then, at the end of each month, students will shop at our McKee Market using the points they earned in PBIS Rewards. Consequently, we are hoping you can take the time to download the PBIS Rewards App to track how your child is doing.
